I saw an online want ad: ‘Out-of-the-Box thinker wanted.’  That’s me!  I think further out of the box than anyone, so I read a bit further.  ‘Must have university degree…’ I stopped reading.  The only university degree I have is a master’s degree in life from the university of life and that degree doesn’t come with a sheepskin.  Oh well, I guess I needn’t apply, but then I got to thinking.

Nobody is actually qualified for that job as they have listed. On the one hand, they ask for an out of the box thinker, but then they disqualify all the potential applicants with the university degree requirement. The university IS the box! A university is the quintessential box and a university graduate has an automatic ‘in-the-box-thinking’ degree, that goes along with whatever other university degree the university graduate earned during his/her time spent completely stuffed ‘in the box’.

I didn’t get the ‘in-the-box’ mislabeled as ‘out-of-the-box’ job: I didn’t even apply.  I wonder if anyone got it?  I suppose the moron who asked for an ‘out-of-the-box thinker with a university degree’ was likely a university graduate with a degree on ‘in-the-box thinking’, but suffering from ‘out-of-the-box’ envy.  The successful candidate would’ve then been another ‘out-of-the-box’ wannabe who had terminated any chance of ever actually thinking out-of-the-box by climbing into the box and having the box fill hos head with box thinking.

Does this post have a real point?  No.  But it was certainly out-of-the-box.  If you want to try thinking even further outside the box, try thinking outside the box of your head.
